After the anxiety of joining an LGBT team sport, I finally did in 2012 by a simple google search "gay softball Minneapolis". Twin Cities Goodtimes Softball League came up and I joined as a free agent. Terrified, I knew NO one in this league but it was finally time to do something that I had been wanting to try for years. It was the start of healthy, friendly competition, and the love of a sport that has only grown over the years. As well as some of the best friendships and, as my late manager Donald would say, fellowship.
A South Dakota transplant since July 2017, I have found so much more than I expected in Sioux Falls, SD. I am so excited to be able to bring this opportunity to the Sioux Empire area and share the joy and positive impact that sports can have. This is specifically invaluable to the LGBTQIA2S+ community who may, at times, feel adrift.
Why did you join the executive committee?
Time. During the pandemic, I was finally afforded the time to work on my hobbies. Not to mention, having met the right people, allowed me to bring this idea in my head to life. I am so proud of what this executive committee has brought to the table and accomplished in just a few months. Look forward to seeing where we go and grow into the future.
